It was the early 1990s.

Roberta Bondar launched herself into history as the first Canadian woman in space, we celebrated the country’s 125th anniversary of Confederation, the Blue Jays won the World Series (Joe Carter!) and the Ottawa Senators were re-established and became the NHL’s eight professional hockey team.


The good times were rolling, and we wasted little time getting into the mix.

Looking to fill the gap between the manufacturers of architectural hardware, locksmith products and access controls – and the end-user, we founded Brunet-Goulard Agencies Inc.


Led by Marcel Goulard, he set out not only to represent the best brands in the industry but to transform what customers and end-users had come to expect out of typical suppliers and distributers.

While it might have taken a bit of time in hindsight, things progressed rather rapidly. Turns out, there was a gap to be filled.

Yes, Marcel nailed it.

We started with a headquarters in Ottawa alongside our new favourite hockey team and eventually became known as BG. Sure, there was bumps along the way, as expected in any inaugural season, but we kept rolling and doing what we do best. Servicing our clients.

A few years following that, we began plans for expansion. With plans to dominate service the entire Canadian market, our founding team began to eye strategic locations for our next office.

Given the close proximity to our headquarters in the Nation’s Capital, nearby Montreal fit the bill perfectly. It was within a couple hours’ drive and it could properly service the Quebec market.

In 1999, we officially opened our Montreal branch and never looked back.

Over the years, we continued to broaden our product offering and never stopped perfecting the ultimate customer experience for clientele. We brought on some great partners in brands such as Assa Abloy, Ingersoll Rand and Allegion, to name a few.

Our customer base began to diversify as well. Originally starting with local organizations and locksmiths, we quickly expanded into serving school boards, universities, government agencies, health care facilities, along with working with a variety of general contractors across the country.

We eventually expanded even further in 2007, opening our Quebec City office and then soon after that, our Toronto office in 2013.

With things sorted out pretty well in the eastern portion of the country, we naturally turned our attention to the wild west. While we certainly had participated in this part of the country, we knew we could do more by planting some firm roots.

We began in the Gateway to the West, as Winnipeg is often referred, and that’s exactly what it proved to be.

Product Development

In addition to all of this outside growth, we have also put in the work internally. We began to develop our own line of products to better service our clientele with unbeatable pricing. Our Krome line of door locks was released and immediately embraced by existing clients. We have since concentrated on building that brand as an extension of the BG organization. Krome hardware now offers locks, door closers, general hardware, exit devices and so much more.




So…What’s Next?

Listen, we can’t let the cat out of the bag here, but we can tell you this…we will continue our expansion, we will continue to improve our processes and we will continue to improve how we treat our staff, clients and everyone who comes into contact with our organization.

We are opening a new location in Vancouver to further our exploration into the west. We are working on additional product lines. We are working on our online prowess and we are working for our people.

Because without them (and you!) we wouldn’t be here. And being here since 1992, is truly a blessing.
